Welcome to this edition of Architecture Insights, your newsletter for keeping up to date with developments of AI in Architecture.

In this week’s issue:

AI news for architects: DALL-E 3 release and ChatGPT data update.

Automation: AI Tools to save you hours.

Abode has AI: What does Adobe Firefly & Sensei offer designers?

As always, here is this week’s latest news in AI for architects and designers.

News & Updates

  • OpenAI releases DALL-E 3, the newest version of its AI image generator. Although it is still limited to the public, this release provides every designer with an improved level of image rendering.

  • ChatGPT can now access the internet, enabling it to search for the most up-to-date information. Previously, it could only respond to prompts based on data it had before September 2021. To use this feature, navigate to the settings, then beta features, and turn on "Browse with Bing”

  • CADdetails has published an article about Augmented Reality in the field of Architecture. Read how it can automate your workflow and save you time here.

AI Automation

4 Automation Tools with AI for architects:

make.com is an AI-powered tool that simplifies workflow automation by having users type out prompts and create automations to simplify their workflows.

"Here is an example of an automation prompt used by a design firm's website:

“Create a row in Google Sheets with the user's information from the submission on your website. Also, send them an email with the firm's previous work, highlighting project X, Y, and Z, and customize it based on the information received to make it personalized. Lastly, organize the user's information by desired project budget, followed by project location“

This prompt can be typed out similar to the way you enter prompts into ChatGPT.

After you finish creating your automation using Make, you will be able to preview how it works in real-life scenarios. For instance, if a visitor submits their information on your website, the first automation will record this data on a Google sheet that you manage. Following that, your email provider will send them an email containing your firm's information, and so forth.

Jasper.ai, One of the leading AI writing tools is Jasper, which has the ability to generate proposals, meeting notes, presentations, and more in just a matter of minutes.

Think of Jasper as an all-in-one AI tool. It may be overwhelming at first, but it can act as a single point of entry for testing out different AI tools one at a time.

10web.io, "10Web can help you create a landing page for your website in just a few seconds. While there are many AI website builders available, some may offer user-friendly interfaces that are easy to use but may sacrifice capabilities. As architects, we don't require many features to create our websites. We may need to include our portfolio, team/firm information, and possibly a job board.

Connect all 3

Use Jasper to create the copy for your website, then fill in your website on 10web with the generated copy. Next, connect Make to your website through HTML or another suitable process. This will allow for all information gathered from your site to be stored in one place.

Adobe has AI

Firefly shares many similarities to the AI image generating software we talked about in last week’s issue but it comes with the familiarity many architects and designers already have using Adobe tools.

Adding AI into tools like Photoshop can eliminate the time spent doing tedious and time consuming tasks when creating project renderings and perspectives.

Designers are all too familiar with the process of spending hours searching through Google images to find the perfect feature or product to include in architectural renderings. One way Firefly eliminates this process is by connecting its AI to an array of stock images you can import in seconds and manually edit to your needs.

Things to consider when choosing which image generator to go with:

  • Overall quality and accuracy of images based on prompts

  • User experience/interface design

  • Pricing
