015: 7 General AI Chatbots (Comparisons For Architects & Designers)

Welcome to this week’s edition of Architecture Insights.

In this week’s post, we will look at 7 AI chatbots to find out which one is suited best for architects and designers to assist with everyday tasks.

AI News

1. Meta releases their own AI image generator. (Read here)

Summary: Named “Imagine with Meta”, so far it is known for its realistic image creation. Meta also plans to become one of the few to include watermarks on their images.

2. Midjourney revises its term of service in response to copyright infringement concerns. (See here)

Summary: Lots of users are left confused and angry as midjourney essentially gave itself more freedom to ban and control users’ accounts in the case of violating their terms or service.

The Best AI Chatbots

In the sea of AI tools, it is easy to get overwhelmed, specifically when picking which general chatbots to use such as ChatGPT, or Google’s Bard.

Today we will go over some of the more developed AI powered chatbots and their different benefits for architects.

ChatGPT: The original GPT we are all most familiar with.

It is ideal for conversing, answering queries, and sharing information. It's great for use as a virtual assistant and support bot. It can however occasionally provide incorrect or nonsensical information. ChatGPT is convenient for anyone using DALL-E as it is built directly into it.

A big plus is that ChatGPT supports PDFs, letting it analyze and summarize them.

Copilot: It is more geared towards tech and software-related activities. For offices already using Microsoft features like Teams, then using Copilot makes sense.

Copilot gets the most integration into other tools by Microsoft. For web searching, it tends to be the fastest. It also has DALL-E built into it.

BARD: It is perfect for a wide range of writing tasks such as product descriptions, news articles, and scriptwriting. For offices using Google features such as Gmail then using Bard makes sense.

Perplexity: Perplexity represents a fresh approach to AI-driven internet-connected chatbots designed to manage extensive information and less structured searches.

After you receive the search results, you will see a detailed list of sources below. The results will appear at the bottom of the page, and you can easily scroll up or down to review all the information.

It also offers the ability to share your chats with others.

Grok: The Elon Musk created chatbot.

Useful for those using X (or Twitter) for their social media. You will need a premium plan on X to run the chatbot.

CopyAI: The best for writing copy such as proposals, emails, memos etc.

It also features many integrations into more than 2000 apps so creating automated workflows is easy.

Personal AI: As you may expect, this is the total personal AI. It undergoes training using your data, including messages, documents, preferred links, and any other information you provide.

This AI is useful for messaging, email composition, and generating content in your unique style using your knowledge. Gradually, it will suggest responses in your conversations that increasingly match your tone and expressions.

When you are confident that Autopilot mode accurately reflects your identity and knowledge, you can selectively activate it on a conversation basis, allowing it to take the lead.
